Happy Birthday Dad! You would’ve been 63 today.
I couldn’t have asked for a better dad, thanks for the memories!

PS: You can see from this photo that I’ve never been a big fan of the beach, lol! The sea, yes, but the beach with all that sand…. uh uh. LOL!

Duma is not a fan of Jozi thunderstorms. Or even light rain. Or even overcast days. Or even one cloud. He’s a sunshine boy.

Duma boy loves to chill by flowers - he always has, since he was little. Weird lil fella.

Assembly instructions for our new chairs. Let’s see… got my 10 minutes, got my screw drivers, but where on earth did I put my roller skates, strappy top and jacket?

St Paul Outside the Walls, Rome
This was my favorite church we visited in Rome. Far from the tourist throngs of Vatican City, this cathedral had a quiet dignity about it that I felt was lacking at St Peter’s Basilica - also, for me, the emphasis at St Peters seemed to be on humans - lots of pope enshrined there, whereas at St Paul Outside the Walls, the focus seemed to be more on God and Jesus - lots of tributes to Jesus and the Disciples in sculpture and painting.
And it was deserted, so that was wonderful as well, to get some quiet to reflect and say hello to God.
They house the religious relic here that is a piece of the Chains they brought Paul to Rome in.
Pretty cool to see!

The statue of St Paul shown here must be the coolest statue of Paul there is - looking all Assassin’s Creed-y with his heavy hooded cloak and drawn sword.
A fantastic place, this, my favorite of the churches in Rome.

This is what they call a peaceful protest in the first world.
I for one felt it severely lacking in teargas, screaming, looting, rubber bullets, racist songs and happy bleeding youths like our South African Peaceful Protests, but whatever, each to his own, I guess.
On a serious note, they stood around happily with their balloons, their leader came and gave a short impassioned speech into the loudhailer, and they released their balloons into the sky, and went home. Police presence was ludicrously overmatched to the aging protestors - we saw a policeman with a serious submachine gun even, but no violence was ever going to happen.
Interesting to see!

Auds on the Ponte Sant’Angelo - the bridge heading to Vatican City, which passes the Castel Sant’Angelo. The Tiber river is seen below, and St Peter’s Basilica is peeking out in the background.
