New Logo for DC Comics. Pretty cool. What I like most about it is the explanation of why they used the folded over ‘D’ - it represents the duality of the characters. Clever observation! All their characters have this duality - Batman, Superman, Iron Man.

Bright Carrot Logo - interesting - this is the first graphic I’ve noticed that uses a ‘lightbulb’ that isn’t the old style incandescent light bulb. I was wonder the other day when we would begin to see this - because old style lightbulbs are no longer legal to sell in Europe, and from this year, here in South Africa as well, so it will be interesting to see if the new shape lamps begin to be used more in these types of graphics, or if the old style incandescent lamp remains more popular.
Living in the future now, folks!

Interesting article here, saying that 16 pixel body text is the way to go. That works out to 12 point, which when seen on your screen at arms-length away, is the same size visually as the text in an average book which you hold closer to your face.
What are your thoughts?
Just listened to a cool Stuff You Should Know podcast about family crests. Could be cool to make one as a personal project - because you’d find out a lot about your own personal history and values - you’d need to do a family motto, and the various elements in the crest all say something - the side supporters, the crown, and so forth.
Pretty interesting fun personal project idea! :-)

The perception that this is accurate is exactly why the management of the Coca-Cola brand is a triumph.
They are the masters at the incremental, subtle, evolution of a brand to keep it current, while ensuring the essence is not lost. They don’t add a drop shadow because everyone’s doin’ it, but they stay contemporary.
By the way, to see the real evolution of the Coke logo, click here. But it hardly matters - this one is what your mind tells you is true, and at the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about, isn’t it?

Although the CherryFlava guys aren’t wild about it, I’m a sucker for refreshed branding. Evolution is the way to go, not revolution, and this is a great example, Jack Daniels new bottle label. The old one for reference:
