Yes, the download speed is obviously quite mind blowing - but the part I find very exciting is the upload speed - ADSL nowadays gives you something stupid like 10% of your download speed for uploading. And we do a lot of back-and-forth these days on the web - it’s no longer one-way traffic. Seeing that upload speed equal to download is going to change everything about how it feels to use the Internet.
I know this isn’t new news, but it is quite impressive - the next step in the evolution of touch is… No touch?
My only qualm with this concept is that your arms and hands will become tired suspended in the air like that - it’s nifty for a 30 second demo - but I don’t know that my daily 8 or 9 hours of design will exactly fly by if my arms are up in the air like that!
Perhaps this is a good secondary device - Apple needs to consider this, and integrate it somehow. Perhaps these gestures are used for certain functions only, and combined with voice and trackpad and keyboard, will make for a slick, yet practical experience?
